SEMI-SOLID CONCENTRIC PACKED CONDUCTORS: The semi-solid, concentrically arranged conductors are used in some AudioQuest power and speaker cables because they provide a cost-effective, flexible alternative to traditional stranded conductors. Semi-Solid Concentric Packed conductors use fewer and larger strands that maintain their position relative to each other throughout the entire length of the cable. While solid conductors provide the ultimate solution to stranded-induced distortion, semi-solid concentric packed conductors avoid many of the causes that cause distortion in stranded conductors.

LONG GRAIN COPPER (LGC): Long crystalline copper (LGC) enables a more balanced, clearer sound than cables with the usual oxygen-free, highly conductive copper (OFHC - Oxygen-Free-High-Conductivity). OFHC is a general metals industry specification that considers “losses” without any consideration of distortion. LGC contains fewer oxides in the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries and clearly offers better performance. NRG-X3 cables contain LGC strands in a semi-solid concentric packed conductor construction.

HELIX GEOMETRY: The relationship of the individual conductors to one another defines the basic electrical properties of a cable (capacitance and inductance). However, even if these variables are kept in a sensible balance, the relationship between the conductors can vary in such a way that the sound is greatly affected. The helix arrangement (e.g. as a round spiral) enables significantly better dynamics and information clarity than with parallel guidance or as multiple twisted pairs of the same conductor.

COLD WELDING SYSTEM: This innovative connector structure enables a perfectly heat-free connection between cable and connector. The connection between the connector and the conductors is made using AQ's cold welding system. This creates a high-quality connection that completely maintains the structural integrity of the conductor. The cold welding system consists of a combination of high pressure at the contact point and the use of copper or silver impregnated paste.
