Dolby Atmos® with height virtualization
If you don't have ceiling speakers or upward-firing speakers, there is Dolby Atmos with height virtualization. This system simulates the Atmos sound experience with front-facing speakers.
You can configure up to five speakers to have the same effect as two ceiling speakers. Alternatively, you can use all seven channels to effectively simulate four overhead speakers.
DOLBY ATMOS

When encoding music into a digital, compressed format, such as MP3, the frequency response is affected. Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer uses exclusive algorithms in digital signal processing that restore lost quality.

Advantages of high slew rate amplifiers
A new circuit that doubles the slew rate produces precise signal transmission and is particularly suitable for high-resolution audio signals.
Often, high slew rate amplifiers cause unstable signal transmission, but Yamaha's newly developed circuit achieves high slew rate with stable signal transmission.
High-quality digital components in the Yamaha RX-A8A
Qualcomm® QCS407 is designed to deliver outstanding audio performance, with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for immersive home audio. A special high-performance audio DSP is also used.
Featuring the state-of-the-art 32-bit SABER PRO Premier DAC ES9026PRO from ESS. ESS's patented 32-bit Hyper Stream Total Distortion (THD) compensation feature minimizes noise levels.
Combined with Yamaha's original DOPG (DAC on Pure Ground) concept, the potential difference between the audio stages is eliminated.
Ground noise is reduced and it improves silence and resolution across the entire audio range, ensuring rich and expressive reproduction of even the finest tones.
Wedge with anti-resonance technology
The newly developed Anti Resonance Technology (ART) wedge forms a fifth foot in the center of the chassis base. Together with the double substructure, it dampens much more of the vibrations generated by power transformers, power transistors and heat sinks. These also include those that can be caused by the sound emitted by the speakers.
Dynamic sound and targeted, precise playback are used even more with the technology. The fifth foot of the A8A has special brass parts inside, allowing for further detailed and rich sound reproduction.
Redesigned mechanical structure
The highly logical and symmetrical internal layout of components and completely redesigned boards are designed to keep the signal paths on each board as short as possible. The new H-cross frame improves the rigidity of the receiver housing and the sound stability. This enables clearer, sharper and more transparent reproduction.
In addition, the newly designed mechanical structure helps to avoid the transfer of vibrations from the transformer to the amplifier circuit. Noise is reduced to improve clarity.
HDR10+*
HDR10+ not only stands for a dynamic spectrum (light-dark ratio) in video content from scene to scene (or even from frame to frame). With a small amount of metadata, it also represents the scene characteristics between light and dark.
This means important details are preserved. This allows the images – and therefore the filmmaker's intentions – to be reproduced more realistically on the screen.

8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz
Supports end-to-end 8K/4K resolutions and higher refresh rate solutions with a single redesigned cable for seamless integration into the HDMI ecosystem. 8K creates a super immersive moving image with twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of 4K.
In combination with the refresh rate of 60 Hz, the result is a smooth, sharp motion image even when changing images quickly. Thanks to 4K/120 Hz, ultra-fast moving images in UHD can be reproduced with high contrast and razor-sharp. Sports broadcasts, action films, high-performance gaming systems and VR are displayed sharply and smoothly.
Special gaming function (ALLM, VRR, QMS, QFT)*
The expanded gaming and media functions ensure even more seamless movements and transitions when playing games, films and videos. The Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) enables the ideal latency to be automatically set for a smooth, delay-free and uninterrupted motion picture with interactivity.

SCENE buttons for specifying songs and stations
There are four SCENE buttons that you can set for different inputs as well as a sound field program, music enhancer, HDMI output and more. The inputs can be set for specific sources, such as: E.g.:
- FM station or internet radio station
- Streaming service sender
- USB device or song on a PC or NAS (network)
After setting the buttons, long press a scene button on the main unit or remote control. To turn on the Yamaha RX-A8A and listen to the music you want. The taste can be changed at any time.
Easy to use thanks to the MusicCast app
Use your smartphone or tablet with the MusicCast CONTROLLER app to set up the Yamaha RX-A8A and make other settings.

Multi-Zone Playback/Advanced HDMI Zone Switching
You can transmit video or audio content (not only the HDMI input, but also other audio sources such as digital or analog audio, network content and FM/DAB radio) to a TV or home theater system in another room (Zone2/4).
This allows you to watch and play the same content in the main room (where the Yamaha RX-A8A is installed) or even other content. An on-screen graphical user interface makes it easy to browse and select content from the second zone. Regardless, it was played in the main zone.
XLR input socket
Equipped with balanced XLR audio input jacks, which have an excellent reputation in the world of professional audio playback and are very sensitive to noise.
